It wasn't hard to realize that HandyPro was the right company for me. As a young child being raised by my maternal grandmother, I was taught to respect my elders, and to be honest in all dealings, amongst other virtues. Growing up, my grandmother would make sure that I was active in the community, whether it was volunteering, demonstrating acts of charity, or simply being a "Good Samaritan". In fact, this came second nature to me, as I would have the privilege of witnessing how my grandmother demonstrated this and became well-known in the neighborhood as "Mama Dean". It was if she was everyone's grandmother.
When my grandmother passed away from cancer, it was something that my family and I thought we were prepared for. However, what we didn't anticipate was the emotional, psychological, and physical challenges that we all had to endure as my grandmother's disease progressed. She was no longer able to use the stairs to get to her bedroom, she also eventually needed assistance when bathing, entering and exiting her home, etc. It was apparent that we would have to make accommodations. It was one act of kindness throughout that ordeal that really left an impression on me. It was when a family friend, who is well-known for being a handyman built an access ramp for my grandmother at no charge. I wouldn't realize how much of an impact this would have on my career decisions several years later. It was clear to me that I wanted to be part of a purpose that made a difference, serves a growing need, and something that I can resonate with on multiple levels. That company was HandyPro. HandyPro ' s mission and vision immediately reminded me of the family friend that helped my family in our time of need. I cannot think of a better way to share my talents and experience to help others and their loved ones with such needs. HandyPro encompasses the moral and ethical qualities that my grandmother instilled in me, and I am therefore obliged in making sure that others can have the same experience.
